I did not expect to find this in the diaper bag.

We are in our house getting ready to get in the car to run some errands, and I see Brooklyn gathering her twin baby dolls and their diaper bag. She has planned it all out and has everything. A bottle of water. Baby Formula (flour from our pantry). Diapers that she made from paper towels. She even put little designs on the diapers — anchors for the boys and hearts for the girls.

If I am not careful, these are things that I will see as cute or a phase, but this is beyond a phase. It’s purpose revealing itself. These are seeds that the Father planted in her long ago. A heart to take care of others. A mother’s heart. Her life communicates what she loves and is drawn to, and it’s beautiful.

Sometimes I get caught up in the routine of life. I forget that God has not just called me to be the titan of tickles, bug squasher (or bug sprayer), silly face maker, master chef of boxed macaroni and cheese, or the dad joke guru. He’s also called me to be a seer of seeds. To notice what may seem small now but actually is a sneak peek into purpose.

Whether you’re a parent or not, God wants to use you to call out the beautiful things in other people. Your words can radically change someone’s day and potentially their entire life.

I know that I have experienced this first hand with several people in my life. I’m not the same person because someone saw something in me that I had not seen yet. And they pulled it out of me. I am forever grateful for it.

Someone in need is waiting on the other side of your obedience.
